The Whole Bungalow gives your group private use of the full Dunnottar house and one-acre estate. The house has 3,605 sq. ft. of living space spread across two private wings, North and South, each with its own bedrooms, living and dining spaces, studies, and separate entrance.

The house is looked after through the day, with daily housekeeping, laundry service, fresh towels, luggage help, and house staff on site.

The Bungalow Manager and team are on site to help with arrival walkthroughs, taxis, transfers, bonfire setup, pizza oven setup, local arrangements, concierge help, and practical questions during the stay.

This was the bungalow's library. It sleeps guests now, and still has the quiet of a reading room.

Mornings can begin in the dining rooms or outside on the grounds; afternoons move between the Sun Room, patios, garden paths, and lake walks; evenings often gather around the fireplace, bonfire spaces, or wood-fired pizza oven.

LOCATION
THE LAKE BEGINS OUTSIDE THE BUNGALOW GATE
Step out onto Lake Road for the lake circuit, Bryant Park, cafés, boating and the town. The advantage of the location is that a great deal of Kodaikanal can be reached without planning a car journey.

BUNGALOW DAYS
We have been coming here every summer since 1947. Some of our fondest evenings here have required no journey at all: pizzas beside the garden oven, supper around a bonfire and birthdays gathered around the long table. When you want to go farther, a horse can be brought through the gate, our mapped walks begin at the house and a guide can take you into the hills.

Heaven on earth - the books, the gardens, the idlis
This place was heaven on earth. I would say mainly because of the books and the ambiance, but my mom definitely loved the gardens - plants are her weakness and her strength. My brother enjoyed walking around the place and his love for the idlis was endless. My dad's doing yoga on your yoga mats right this moment, very handy. The logo's mega creative. I love, love, love the interiors of the houses. The experience here was amazing and I had a blast. Us raving about the food: incredible idlis, super sambhar, tangy tomato soup.

Check-in at The Dunnottar is from 2pm and check-out is by 10am. We try to accommodate early check-ins and late check-outs subject to availability, and you can drop your bags off if you arrive early. Check-ins before 8am and check-outs after 5pm carry a minimum half-day charge.

Yes. Day visitors are welcome with prior notice, but they cannot stay overnight and must leave the property by 11:00pm. If they join you for any meals, the applicable per-person meal charge will be added.
