# The Dunnottar Bungalow

> A 19th-century Scottish heritage bungalow directly on Kodaikanal Lake, Tamil Nadu, India. A private five-bedroom estate, privately booked as the whole house — sleeps up to 15 across five ensuite bedrooms, all on one level with no stairs between rooms. On Lake Road, near Bryant Park. ## About

The Dunnottar sits directly on Kodaikanal Lake, on Lake Road near Bryant Park, Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu 624101, India — on the quiet stretch of the lake, with the lake path starting outside the gate. Bryant Park is 1.0 km, about fifteen minutes on foot. Built in the 19th century and sold by Lord Chamberlain to Puliyadi Kuppuswami Iyer in 1947, it has been in the same South Indian family for four generations. ## Who it suits

Families and groups who want the whole house to themselves: multi-generational family holidays (grandparents, parents, children), reunions, and groups of ten to fifteen. Privately booked — one group, no other guests.

All five bedrooms are on one level and there are no stairs between rooms, which is why the house works for three generations at once.

Wedding Stays — Many groups book the whole bungalow as the private base for the family during a Kodaikanal wedding — the couple's parents, grandparents and closest friends staying together in one house on the lake, minutes from the celebrations, with meals cooked through the stay. We host the stay and the quiet moments around the wedding — the welcome dinner, slow breakfasts, getting ready — not the ceremony itself, which we leave to the venue.

The full circuit of the lake is about 5 km.

By car: Kodaikanal Golf Club 6.0 km by Upper Shola Road and Golf Links Road; Pillar Rocks 7.2 km by Golf Links Road; Dolphin's Nose 23 minutes.
